Suzanne Sinclair – BSO Sustainability Manager
Introduce yourself and say your role and how long you have worked in the role
What do you do? – High-level overview of the role
How do you feel you make a difference in the health service?
Hello, my name is Suzanne, and I’m the Sustainability Manager for the Business Services Organisation within the Strategic Planning and Customer Engagement Directorate. I’m relatively new to the role but really looking forward to helping drive the sustainability agenda across BSO and the wider HSC sector. I have always worked in the environmental space across both public and third sectors, which has given me a broad understanding and passion for sustainability.
As a Sustainability Manager, my role is really about helping BSO understand and reduce our environmental impact.
On a day to day basis I:
Support the delivery of our 5-year sustainability strategy: It focuses on key areas such as biodiversity, energy efficiency, our estate, procurement, transport, waste, and our people. A lot of my role is working alongside colleagues across our varied service areas to embed sustainable practices, for example I work with teams to understand climate related risks such as extreme weather and how it affects supply chain disruption or rising energy costs.
I also Support compliance with emerging climate legislation and public‑body reporting requirements.
And I spend time engaging with customers to build awareness and drive positive change.
3. What I enjoy most about my role is that no two days look the same, some days I’m analysing data, others I’m drafting environmental policy or supporting teams across the organisation with sustainability projects. I feel like I’m making a positive contribution to our healthcare service that is both environmentally and socially sustainable and one that leads by example in terms of climate action.

Hello, my name is Suzanne Sinclair  and I’m the Sustainability Manager for the Business Services Organisation within the Strategic Planning and Customer Engagement Directorate.

I have always worked in the environmental space across both public and third sectors, which has given me a broad understanding and passion for sustainability.

As a Sustainability Manager, my role is really about helping BSO understand and reduce our environmental impact. On International  Women’s day I am proud of the difference I will make to BSO and our sustainable improvements within the HSC.

On a day to day basis I:

How do you make a difference?

No two days are the same and that diversity helps me make a differnce. Some days I’m analysing data, others I’m drafting environmental policy or supporting teams across the organisation with sustainability projects. I feel like I’m making a positive contribution to our healthcare service that is both environmentally and socially sustainable and one that leads by example in terms of climate action.
