Background Information
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of ensuring staff are protected against disease. While there is currently no vaccine against COVID-19, there is a vaccine against seasonal influenza and it is important that all health & social care workers have access to this vaccine. Health & Social Care staff can be vaccinated in flu clinics organised by their local health and social care Trusts and the list of clinics provided by Trusts is available below. NB BHSCT Flu Clinic times are not yet available and will be uploaded as soon as we receive them.
In addition to the Trust flu clinics the flu vaccine will also be accessible by all health & social care workers this year via participating community pharmacies. Please find attached details of participating pharmacies, information on who is eligible for the vaccine and how to book an appointment. Please note that an employer photo identification badge/ or other proof of employment in a health or social care setting e.g. payslip, letter from employer on official letterhead plus photographic proof of identification will be required.
This information should also be brought to the attention of any bank/agency staff who are working in your practice.
It is very important that all health and social care staff are vaccinated against flu to protect vulnerable patients. We are hoping to significantly improve the uptake rate of flu vaccination by healthcare workers this year. Please encourage your staff to take advantage of the opportunity to protect themselves and others against flu by getting their flu vaccination.
