The BSO is due to release its new Health and Wellbeing Strategy over the next couple of months. The aim of this Strategy is to support the BSO’s Corporate Plan and People Strategy to ‘Help Our People Excel at What We Do’ by outlining the proactive approach the organisation will take by continuing to invest in, prioritise and improve the health and wellbeing of all staff. BSO recognises that staff are the organisation’s most important asset and values the contribution each individual member of staff makes to delivering services to the high quality and standards that our customers and partners across the HSC value.
The BSO is committed to creating a healthy workplace where staff health and wellbeing is prioritised so staff feel healthy, supported and valued to enable them to thrive in work, display the HSC Values and enjoy their work.
The Strategy will focus on 4 key themes over the next 3 years based on the following 4 pillars:
- Healthy Body – physical activity, nutrition and hydration, Health and Safety and Ergonomics
- Healthy Mind – Psychological Wellbeing, Stress Management, Resilience Practices and Bereavement
- Healthy Living – Healthy lifestyles, financial wellbeing, living with long term conditions and caring for others
- Healthy Culture – Good working relations, work/life balance, teamwork, learning and development and reward and recognition
In addition, we have 6 key priorities and associated actions planned for improving the health and wellbeing of our staff. We also have a number of health and wellbeing resources in place to support our staff:
- Health and Wellbeing Customer Portal which provides access to a range of information and access to services.
- Employee Assistance Provider available 24/7
- Health and Wellbeing Champions
- Mental Health Advocates (First Aiders)
- Cycle to Work Scheme
- Smoking Cessation Service
- Support the work of the Equality Diversity and Inclusion agenda through the access to an LGBTQ+ network, Regional Ethnic Network and our Tapestry Disability Network.
- Menopause Programmes/Support
- Access to Occupational Health services including psychological support services
