HSC Counter Fraud – International Fraud Awareness webinar sessions

In support of International Fraud Awareness Week, BSO Counter Fraud Service will be hosting two Webinars.

These sessions are available to all HSCNI staff with an emphasis on those with line management responsibilities. Both sessions will be recorded and made available on the LearnHSCNI platform for those unable to attend.

Why should you attend? Fraud against Health and Social Care Northern Ireland (HSCNI) can take many forms and cover a wide range of offences including fraud, corruption, bribery, theft, forgery or any other dishonest act committed by an individual or group of individuals to obtain a financial gain or cause a loss to the HSC. While those who commit fraud against the HSC are a minority their actions can have a serious impact on us all. Any money lost to fraud undermines the ability to provide many necessary services, potentially leading to longer waiting lists and fewer staff to support patient care.

Why is it important? To understand fraud and the harmful impact it has on HSCNI. The webinar will provide fraud prevention advice for areas including false claims, salary overpayments and contractual fraud.  The webinar will provide guidance on the actions required from a manager when fraud is suspected.

International Fraud Awareness Week is a great opportunity to remind staff that everyone can play an important part in fighting fraud, by being vigilant, knowing how to prevent fraud, or reporting any suspicions or concerns.

BSO Counter Fraud Service are the sole provider of a comprehensive counter fraud service to the Department of Health, All HSCNI and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.
