Meet Eilish Meehan, eHealth – NIDIS – Health+Care Number Index Senior Project Manager within BSO.
Eilish is a problem solver and well-respected trainer who is passionate about the vital role unique identifiers play in the health service.
Eilish works with our Health and Care numbers, the 10-digit number we all hold. These unique identifiers play a crucial role in joining up our medical records across a vast array of systems and disciplines. This number enables clinicians to make the best possible treatment decisions based on an individual’s records and test results.
Although Eilish and her team work in the background, they are directly involved in patient care by getting the right information in front of clinicians or diagnosticians in a timely way.

The Northern Ireland Digital Identity Service (NIDIS) is a digital Programme that will replace two legacy systems and help us correctly identify patients across all Health and Social Care systems. The new solution is aimed at improving healthcare services for patients and assist in the sharing of medical records in a much more efficient and secure way.
