BPaT Super User Training in Full Swing Across BHSCT

24 March 2026

The Blood Production and Tracking (BPaT) Project continues to progress at pace as teams across the region work collaboratively towards the BHSCT go live milestone later this year. Both the Production and Tracking workstreams are now firmly embedded in their Testing and Validation phases, and this has naturally accelerated activity across the wider project.
A key focus in recent weeks has been the rollout of Super User Training within BHSCT, marking a significant step forward in the transition to the new BloodTrack system. With approximately 200 Super Users identified across laboratory, nursing, haemovigilance and clinical areas, the BPaT Training Team has been undertaking an intensive schedule of on site sessions across all Trust locations.

Building Confidence, Capability and Local Expertise
Super User Training is designed as a train the trainer model, equipping staff not only with system knowledge, but with the confidence to support colleagues throughout implementation. By providing hands on, scenario based demonstrations in the dedicated training facilities at RVH and BCH, the project aims to embed local expertise within each ward, lab, theatre and clinical area.
The training also emphasises relationship building, ensuring Super Users feel supported by the BPaT team and by one another as they prepare for the wider cascade of end user training. Early feedback from sessions has been extremely positive, with staff reporting increased confidence in navigating the system and understanding new workflows.

A Collaborative Effort Across Sites
The BPaT Training Team, supported by colleagues from Accuscience, has been onsite in RVH, BCH, and MPH to deliver sessions directly to staff in their local areas. This approach strengthens readiness by embedding training where it will be used and ensuring staff have access to equipment such as kiosks, haemobank fridges and scanners during their learning.
While progress has been strong, the project acknowledges that substantial work remains for all parties involved. Continued involvement from Super Users will be vital as the Trust moves into broader end user training from April through to June.

Supporting Materials and Ongoing Engagement
Super Users will be provided with a “tool kit” to support their end user training. These resources will help ensure staff arrive prepared, informed and ready to get the most from their practical training.
The Training Team will continue to offer:
• On site support at key stages of the rollout
• Drop in clinics at RVH
• Regular communication to ensure Super Users remain involved and informed

Celebrating Our Teams
The enthusiasm and engagement shown by teams across the Trust has been evident. Super Users have actively participated, contributing valuable feedback that is helping shape final materials and processes.
