Men’s Health Week – Meet David Spratt

19 June 2026

For Men’s Health Week, Business Services Organisation (BSO) will be showcasing how our employees support HSCNI, their own health and the wellbeing of communities through their work, hobbies and charitable giving.

Meet David Spratt. David works in BSO Accounts Receivable and recently represented Northern Ireland (NI) at the European Indoor Archery Championships 2026 back in March, competing in the longbow category.

David who was a part-time carer for his mother, got into archery in 2023 as a way to release stress. David found that the activity helped not only his mental wellbeing, but also improved his physical wellbeing and enabled him to return to yoga, a further benefit to his health. The archery and returning to yoga were of great benefit to David and helped him to cope with bereavement following the loss of his mother.

Throughout this time, David was fully supported by his local club, Drumquin Archery Club. As David progressed with his archery skills, his coaches encouraged him to compete and represent the club at a Northern Ireland level.

David welcomed this challenge and has had a number of successes since he started competitive archery in 2024, with his most recent win qualifying him to represent NI at the European Championships in Estonia in 2028.

David would like to thank his club for their support and encouragement over the years and he hopes sharing his story will inspire others to join their local clubs as they benefit all aspects of health, social and mental wellbeing.

Congratulations David on your win, your BSO colleagues wish you the best of luck with all your training ahead of Estonia in 2028.
