As we continue our promotion of Men’s Health Week, we are delighted to highlight the work our colleagues in Business Services Organisation (BSO) Procurement and Logistics Service (PaLS) do in partnership with FareShare Northern Ireland.
Over the last 3 years BSO PaLS colleagues in our Boucher warehouse have maintained a partnership with FareShare to distribute food products that would otherwise be disposed of.
FareShare in Northern Ireland (NI) work in partnership with Homelessness Connect and are directly tackling food poverty in NI by collecting surplus food from industry and redistributing it to charities, community groups and schools.
BSO PaLS are helping FareShare to redistribute items that historically would have been written off and disposed of, despite being in good condition and usable. It was a big frustration among the team.
Engaging with FareShare has allowed PaLS to reduce by around 50% the amount of food lines that need to be placed into their food damages bins while also supporting the local community and vulnerable groups.
Working with FareShare to ensure the most vulnerable in society have access to good food products is something the team as whole are quite proud of.
Well done to everyone in PaLS at Boucher warehouse.
