BSO Procurement and Logistics Services (PaLS) Nominated for the UK National GO Awards
BSO Procurement and Logistics Services (PaLS) have been nominated for the UK National GO Awards in recognition of their collaborative approach with the Department of Health, HSC Trusts, and Trade Unions, to ‘Eliminate Off-Framework Agency Usage in Nursing, across the HSC NI’
The GO Awards are the UK’s leading public procurement excellence awards, celebrating the very best procurement achievements from across the UK’s public, private and third sector organisations.
In October 2022 the NI Health Minister disclosed plans for the HSC to eliminate off-framework agency spend which had increased in cost from £27m (2018/19) to £134m (2022/23).
One of the key steps to eliminating this cost was to remove the need for agency staff through a new Nursing and Healthcare Support Framework for the supply of agency nurses, midwives and healthcare support workers.
Commenting on the nomination, Linda O’Hare, Assistant Director in BSO PaLS said:
“I am so proud of the team, for being honoured as a finalist in the UK National GO Awards 2024. This is a testament to the collaborative working and dedication of everyone involved.
I would like to wish my team the best of luck for Thursday night.”
The Framework was launched in May 2023 and by August 2023, off-framework expenditure across nursing, midwives and healthcare support workers was significantly reduced. The savings have the potential to be being reinvested to improve patient care in the Trusts, which will in turn improve the quality of care for people in Northern Ireland.
The GO awards take place in Liverpool on 16 May 2024.
