4 October 2023
Welcoming the 15 new Regional HSC NI Graduate trainees commencing the scheme in September 2023, across 6 pathways; Accountancy (3 trainees), Pals (3), Engineering (3), General Management (3), HROD (2), Encompass (1). The trainees initially completed an 11 day induction at the Leadership Centre (the Cook’s tour) whereby they engaged in development, received an overview of key BSO policies and procedures, accessed the regional LMS and engaged in outreach visits to gain insights to the broader health service context across NI.
This Year trainees visited BSO, the Blood Transfusion Service, Public Health Agency and the NI Ambulance Service among their range of visits. Their induction cumulated on 15th September, with a celebratory Networking event held at the HSC Leadership Centre and attended by senior leaders and commissioners from across the HSC NI sector.
Attendees at this event (some whom were prior trainees themselves) provided advice and guidance to the graduate trainees as they begin their traineeships. The trainees commenced their first placement on 18th September, including years 1-3, the Graduate Scheme now involves 33 trainees spanning a range of HSC placements right across the HSC NI sector.
Our graduate trainees are enthusiastic, keen to learn and committed to delivering the best service for all who use the health service in NI.
The Regional Trainee leads (Maura McMackin & Ross McCaughey) wish to thank all stakeholders for their ongoing support of this ever growing scheme and will be reaching out across the sector in October 2023, to commence recruitment for the September 2024 intake.
