The BSO Office for Research Ethics Committees NI (ORECNI) hosted their annual Research Ethics Conference in Lisburn Civic Centre recently.
The Conference was attended by staff from BSO ORECNI, Health Trusts, The Public Health Agency, Queen’s University, Ulster University, HSC Research Ethics Committee members, and the UK Health Research Authority.
Speakers included Julie Erskine (Chair of BSO), Dr. Karen Beattie (Head of ORECNI) and Charlotte Allen (Quality and Performance Manager, Health Research Authority).
Some of the main points of discussion were around Ethical Review and legislation, including research involving adults lacking capacity, and studies involving use of human tissue, with the audience having the opportunity to interact and ask questions.
