Today on World Sustainability Day, Suzanne Sinclair (Sustainability Manager, Business Services Organisation BSO) is highlighting the key aspects of her role and the sustainability updates that have been implemented over the past year.
Suzanne’s role is to help drive sustainability across BSO by supporting initiatives that reduce our environmental impact, improve efficiency and ensure sustainability remains a key consideration in our decision making and operations.
Over the past year, BSO has:
🌿 Launched our Sustainability Strategy, setting out our vision, priorities and ambitions to achieve net zero.
🌱 Submitted our Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Reports, helping to demonstrate our response to climate risks and opportunities.
🎓 Launched a sustainability e-learning module to support colleagues in understanding the role they play in achieving our sustainability targets.
📋 Reviewed and updated our Environment and Sustainability Policy.
📊 Submitted our first Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Survey application, which will enable us to measure our performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
🚗 Continued work to decarbonise our fleet, supporting the transition to lower-emission transport.
🏢 Made progress in rationalising our estate and improving energy efficiency, helping to reduce both emissions and operational costs.
🤝 Strengthened sustainability governance and engagement through collaboration across teams and our Sustainability Working Group.
📄 Completed our first Sustainability Annual Report, bringing together key achievements, performance data and progress against our sustainability objectives.
Thank you to our Sustainability Working Group and colleagues across BSO for their continued support to embed sustainability into the way we work and deliver services.
